HOW IT BEGAN
IT ALL STARTED NINE YEARS AGO…
9 Years ago, Jade was pregnant with her first baby - Aubrey. She had just finished her degree as a midwife and was about to embark in a year off on maternity leave. It was a very exciting time but for anyone who knows Jade, they know that sitting still and being at home for a year was a very daunting prospect. For the first 6 months she was absolutely consumed by her baby but then the reality set in that in 6 months time, she’d have to return to work. Her brain started ticking…. How can I stay home longer with my baby? How can I keep myself busy during my maternity leave?
She’d always had a love of taking photos, so picked up her camera that her now husband had bought her when she was 18. She started practicing on her baby. Very quickly she got obsessed with learning how to take better photos, practicing every single day. She even did a little course to learn faster.
A few months in, she got a full time job offer as a midwife - So she put this on the back burner and started focusing on her career as a midwife. After a year of working in the hospital - She felt so unaligned with her life path and SO unhappy. She wanted to stay home with her baby (AND she was having another one), so with the support of her husband she dove right into photography. Learning all about business and how to better her skills. The goal was to earn enough to just cover 1-2 shifts at the hospital..
With endless hours of effort, some huge successes, huge setbacks, and about 346879 lessons - 7 years later - We are here.. Fable and Fig is now one of Adelaide’s best photography businesses, photographing over 300+ clients a year. It’s been an absolute whirlwind but the adventure of a lifetime!

Jade (Dark Hair) & Meagan (Light Hair) are both mums, and former health professionals.
They first met when their kids went to the same kindy together! One day, a conversation around the play dough table, eventually turned into a job offer for Meagan.
After showing off her insanely amazing eye for photos during one of Jade’s photo challenges in 2020, she started working as a casual photographer for Fable and Fig around her nursing shifts. Often finishing a night shift, then waking up and going to a shoot before her next night shift started… Eventually Meagan quit her nursing career to come and work full time as a photographer with Jade.

And the truth is, not ONE person “does it all”. This doesn’t happen without a very high functioning team of legends, so let’s meet the gals behind the scenes, that ALL help make Fable and Fig what it is today :
Jade : Business Owner, Photographer and Dreamer!
Jade is a mama of three gorgeous kiddos, a former midwife and a lover of chocolate and a hot tea or cacao in bed!
An introverted-extrovert with ADHD, Jade manages the business operations here at Fable and Fig to ensure smooth sailing for our clients! Working largely on the “back-end of business”, she’s in charge of all of our systems, workflows and making improvements to the business. She is the creator of our marketing and the reason why we always are doing such cool things and giveaways on socials! She also dabbles in commercial photography and if you’re lucky you might see her pop out for an occasional family shoot!
Meagan : Lead photographer, story teller & adventurer!
Meagan is a mum of three beautiful kids, a former nurse/midwife and an all round dead set legend.
She is the lead photographer at Fable and Fig - Basically she runs the show! She is the face you see everywhere - Taking care of all of our family sessions from providing an amazingly fun and upbeat experience all the way through to choosing and editing the images! It is NO joke that she would process nearly half a million images per year here at F&F!
Meagan works with all of our family, newborn and maternity clients and loves to shoot business minis in our brand new studio. She’s always making sure that everyone that comes through our doors has the best possible experience, no matter what!
Caitlin : Studio admin, organiser and chaos coordinator
Caitlin is a mum to two gorg bubbas and a former childcare educator. A lover of all aspects of interior design and is always down for a good op shop sesh!
Caitlin works behind the scenes making sure that all of your bookings run smoothly. She’s the one you chat to if you ever run into any issues, the one you ask your questions! She’s responsible for our client care and is here to help you in the lead up to and after your sessions with us!
Jess : Personal assistant & all round life saver
Jess is a mum of two boys, and a hairdresser at her own Salon Studio 84 in the North Eastern Suburbs. In all of her “spare time”, she is the worlds best PA for Jade - Helping Jade coordinate her insanely busy life.
Jess works silently behind the scenes two days a week to basically support all of Jade’s crazy ideas and make this entire thing possible!
